The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, on Thursday, ordered the lockout of late staff at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing Headquarters in Abuja.
According to report, the locked-out civil servants outnumbered 300, including directors.
Umahi gave the directive to lock the gate immediately he resumed office around 9:30 a.m. to see the scanty officers on duty.
However, the public servants had aired their displeasure about the matter and demanded an apology from the minister.
Moreover, after the gate was opened, the workers, comprising both the Housing and Works Ministry, refused to enter the ministry and resorted to an impromptu protest and barricaded the entrance gates.
