FUTA Don Afeez Abidemi emerges as 2023 National Young Researchers in Mathematics Award winner
Dr Afeez Abidemi, a mathematical scientist & modeler and product of the Federal University of Technology Akure, has been announced as the winner of the 2023 edition of the noble Prof. Aderemi Kuku National Young Scientists’ Award for young researchers in Mathematics.
Abidemi’s academic excellence and outstanding contributions to the field of Mathematical Sciences have been recognized by the Nigerian Young Academy (NYA), the organizer of the National Young Scientists’ Award.
The youngster was honored at the 13th International Conference and General Assembly of the Academy in Edo State.
“It gives me great pleasure to inform you of your selection as the winner of the 2023 edition of the Prof. Aderemi Kuku National Young Scientists’ Prize in Mathematical Sciences,” Prof. Charles Oluwaseun Adetunji said while presenting him with the money prize and certificate in Edo.
Dr Abidemi holds BTech and MTech degrees in Mathematical Sciences from the Federal University of Technology Akure and a PhD from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
Congratulating Afeez Abidemi, the Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, in her remark described him (Abidemi) as a shining example and model for research enthusiasts.
She said, “This is another remarkable achievement underscoring the excellence of members of the faculty of our great University. Dr Abidemi has shown the world that FUTA is a citadel of Academic excellence where research is taken seriously.
“CONGRATULATIONS on this worthy achievement,” the VC noted in her congratulatory letter.
