The Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress from the South-West Zone has enjoined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint competent youth with track records of participation in youth’s activities from the region as Minister of Youths.
The call was contained in a signed statement by the youth leader of the APC South-West Young Stakeholders Forum, dated 2023, to the president of the federation.
Recall that the slot for Minister of Youths remains open after the deployment of Abubakar Momoh to Ministry of Niger Delta.
The forum suggested 12 people from the region who should be considered by the president for the position.
The 12 persons suggested are: Makinde Araoye, Seun Olufemi-White, Seyi Tinubu, Ayodele Olawande, Bolaji Afeez Repete, and Prince Oyekunle Oyewumi.
Others are: Titilope Ayoka Gbadamosi and Ademola Adeyeye; Abdullahi Dayo Israel; Bayo Adenekan; Prince Dapo Abiodun; and Dr Seriki Muritala.
“While Lagos and Ogun states already have two and three ministers, respectively, they consider those from other states of the South-West zone more suitable for the ministerial position,” the group said.
It added, “With the separation of the youth and sports ministries, the new minister would be tasked with building a ministry that would focus solely on young people.
“The minister will also be expected to manage the strong desires of the youth demography and ensure that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu caters effectively to youth agitations,” the group said.
