The Chief of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) of the United Nations, Mr Laurent De Boeck has arrived in Katsina state for Conflict Mitigation Project Launch and Community Reconciliation in the North West of Nigeria.

Mr De Boeck unveiled this during his courtesy visit to the state governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Speaking at the government house, he maintained that the project conceived by IOM was in partnership with the European Union, Mercy Corps, and the Centre for Democracy and Development, aimed at supporting Nigeria, especially the North West, in conflict management.

The UN chief reinstated that the project execution will take place in four different local government areas, namely: Jibia, Batsari, Danmusa, and Kankara.

In response to Mr De Boeck, Governor Radda reaffirmed the positive impacts that the project will have on Katsina residents, assuring him of full government backing.

“On our part, as government, we will provide all the necessary support to the International Organization for Migration for the project to reach fruition,” the governor said.
