Breaking: Nigeria’s D’Tigress beat Senegal in record final

The Nigerian national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, made history after defeating Senegal 84-74 to win their fourth consecutive Afrobasket title.

D’Tigress became only the second team in history, after Senegal, to win four consecutive titles after they conquered their West African neighbours.

The title broke a record 12 year title drought for the Nigerian girls despite their brilliant display in previous tournaments.

Senegal rallied late, but Nigeria held on for the victory.

The Rena Wakama tutored side have registered their intentions to win the title from their first tie against Congo DR.

The team extended their unbeaten run to 23 games after they crushed host country Rwanda, 79-48 to reach another final.

It is on record that the coach of D’Tigress, Wakama is the first female coach to win the Afrobasket title and with her in charge,

The next target for the Nigerian sides are the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
