Police rescue kidnapped victim after 2 days in Delta

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, alongside the local security network in Port Harcourt, have rescued a kidnapped victim after spending two days in their hangouts.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Polycarp, disclosed this in a press briefing on Saturday, July 1, 2023.

According to him, the victim was liberated along the East-West Road at Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

“Operatives of Rumunji Division on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at about 17:45 hrs., acting on a tip-off by patrol teams in the company of Emohua community Vigilante Security, moved to the forest by Choba Bridge along East-West Road rescued one kidnapping victim, name withheld of Salvation Ministry Road Rumuomosi, Choba, Port Harcourt,” CP Polycarp said.

He added that the abductee rejoined her family members immediately after the release and that efforts to spot the abductors and recover her hijacked vehicle are at their peak.

“The rescued victim stated that the kidnapping occurred on the 26th of June at about 19:50 hrs. along Salvation Ministry Road while returning with a black-coloured Lexus 330 Jeep, which is yet to be recovered. While we go in pursuit of the recovery of the vehicle, the victim has been reunited with his family. Efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the hoodlums,” the Commissioner added.

He continued by emphasizing his zeal to fight criminality to an impasse and urging any member of the public who has information about the kidnappers whereabouts to approach the command.

“Recall that just last week the remains of a former government official who had been kidnapped and buried in a forest were exhumed and interred at a mortuary,” he concluded.
