Veteran actress Iyabo Oko is dead

Popular Yoruba nollywood actress Sidikat Odunkanwi, a.k.a. “Iyabo Oko,” has passed away on Wednesday after battling with a prolonged health challenge.

This was confirmed in a statement by her daughter, Bisi Aisha, on Thursday, June 29, 2023, via the Facebook platform.

Aisha reported that the sad incident occurred during the evening hours of Wednesday, June 28, and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul.

“May your soul Rest In Peace, mummy,” said Aisha.

Also confirming her death, Actress Daramola-Salako said through her Instagram handle that the veteran actress ill-health has eventually resulted in her death despite all efforts of recuperation.

“And finally we lost her… RIP Iyabo Oko, we did our best but God knows best,” she added.

Iyabo Oko, also called Sisi Mama, 61, suffered from an “ischemic stroke,” which forced her to vacate the film industry for almost five years.

In the course of managing the diseased condition, she solicited support from her colleagues. Among the generous donors are Foluke Daramola, Iyabo Ojo, Bolaji Amusan, Mercy Aigbe and Biodun Okeowo.
