Uniosun Resident Doctors distances self from 5-day warning strike
The Osun state government has promised not to allow the resident doctors of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo to join the ongoing warning strike.
This was contained in a statement signed by the spokesperson to the Executive Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Wednesday May 17, 2023.
According to him, the statement was the outcome of a closed door meeting between the state government and the officials of Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, where the governor approved all the 12 years demand of resident doctors in the state.
The statement reads in part, “Resident medical doctors of the Osun University Teaching Hospital will not be joining the ongoing national strike.
“At the meeting attended by the leadership of the medical union and management of the teaching hospital, Governor Adeleke approved with immediate effect the payment of hazard allowance for clinical and non-clinical workers in the service of the teaching hospital.
“The Governor also approved payment of a percentage of residency training allowance for residency doctors for the same hospital on an annual basis.”
Furthermore, Governor Adeleke ordered undelayed approval of all other operational issues raised by the Uniosun NARD chairman, Dr John Ojo.
The experts in the meeting were very delighted over the achievement of their 12 year long awaited dream.
Governor Adeleke, therefore, implores the medical professionals to complement the government efforts with quality service delivery.
