Over 50 street-connected children in Kwara State are now benefiting from tuition-free education and feeding under the sponsorship of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the state government has disclosed. The initiative targets vulnerable children who were rescued after being abandoned by their parents.

The announcement was made by Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, Commissioner for Social Development, during an Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing organized by the State Ministry of Communications at the Ministry of Finance conference room in Ilorin.

According to the Commissioner, the children are accommodated at the State Child Reception Centre (CRC), where the government ensures their basic needs are met while supporting their mental, physical, and emotional well-being. She emphasized that the state’s support extends beyond feeding and education to include healthcare and overall welfare, with the goal of providing the children a stable environment and opportunities to enjoy a fulfilling life.

Governor AbdulRazaq’s initiative is part of the Kwara State Government’s broader commitment to child welfare and social development, particularly for vulnerable populations who are often marginalized and at risk of neglect.

The Commissioner reiterated that the state government remains dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of all children, ensuring that every child—regardless of background—has access to education, healthcare, and a nurturing environment.
