KWAM 1 Denies Disrupting ValueJet Flight, Says Incident Was Sensationalized

The management of legendary Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate), has refuted reports alleging he caused a disturbance during a ValueJet flight boarding process on August 5, 2025, describing the claims as “exaggerated” and “misleading.”
In an official statement signed by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, the musician’s team clarified that at no point did K1 breach aviation protocols or behave in a way that endangered lives.
“Our attention has been drawn to reports alleging that King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate) displayed unruly conduct while attempting to board a ValueJet flight… We wish to categorically state that this narrative is not only exaggerated but also misleading,” the statement reads.
The controversy reportedly began over a substance K1 was carrying, which the team confirmed was simply plain drinking water provided to him in the airport lounge. Despite his effort to clarify the situation, the team claims the issue was “unnecessarily escalated.”
Addressing specific allegations that the Fuji star jumped in front of the aircraft or attempted to stop its takeoff, the statement declared such claims “completely unfounded.”
“K1, who is globally respected and frequently travels both locally and internationally, understands and strictly adheres to aviation protocols,” Rasheed added.
The statement also revealed that high-level interventions followed the misunderstanding. According to K1’s camp, the Head of Airport Security, officials from FAAN and NCAA, and even top executives of the airline, including the Chairman and Managing Director, reached out personally to offer apologies and arranged for a private jet to fly him to Lagos at no cost — an offer K1 reportedly declined.
“It must also be emphasized that K1 was the victim in this incident,” the statement continued. “No one else but him and his personal assistant was directly involved.”
Furthermore, the statement noted that the pilot in question has now had her license suspended. “Given the circumstances, it is no surprise if she attempts to deflect blame — surely, she must lie to cover herself up,” it claimed.
Concluding, the statement appealed to the media and public to refrain from sensationalism. “K1 remains a law-abiding citizen and continues to cooperate fully with all relevant authorities to ensure that the matter is responsibly resolved.”
The response follows viral reports on Tuesday alleging that K1 created a scene and attempted to prevent a ValueJet aircraft from taking off in Abuja, stirring public debate on social media.
