Army, Police Launch Probe into Deadly Grenade Explosion in Lagos

The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, has launched a joint investigation into a grenade explosion that occurred on Friday in the Mushin area of Lagos State.
In a statement released on Saturday, Division spokesman Lt.-Col. Olabisi Ayeni confirmed that the explosion took place at a metal scrap yard in Idi-Araba, Mushin Local Government Area. The blast resulted in the death of one person and injuries to two others.
Authorities have assigned the Division’s Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Squadron to work alongside the police in uncovering the cause of the explosion and ensuring that the surrounding area remains safe.
Lt.-Col. Ayeni urged residents to remain calm and avoid panic, assuring them that security personnel are actively working to prevent further incidents in the vicinity.
He extended the division’s condolences to the family of the deceased and expressed hope for the quick recovery of the injured victims.
