Emir Aminu Bayero cancels Eid-el-Fitr Durbar over security concerns

The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, has called off the highly anticipated Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebration, citing security concerns.
In a press briefing held at his Nasarawa Mini Palace on Wednesday night, Emir Bayero emphasized that the peaceful coexistence of the people of Kano was more important than holding the Durbar.
The decision follows advice from respected Islamic clerics, elders, stakeholders, and council members, who urged the monarch to prioritize stability.
The Durbar celebration was expected to mark both Eid-el-Fitr and the Emir’s fifth anniversary on the throne. However, with security concerns mounting, the Emir chose restraint over tradition.
In his address, he encouraged the people of Kano to use the Sallah period to visit loved ones and celebrate in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
He also prayed for divine blessings and mercy, hoping that the Ramadan season would bring forgiveness and grace to the people of Kano.
