One in a Billion: 18-Year-Old Indian Teen Sets Guinness World Record for Hairiest Face

In an extraordinary feat of resilience and self-acceptance, Lalit Patidar, an 18-year-old from India, has officially entered the Guinness World Records (GWR) for having the hairiest face ever recorded.
Patidar has a rare condition known as hypertrichosis, often referred to as “werewolf syndrome”, which causes excessive hair growth. According to Guinness World Records, his face boasts an astounding 201.72 hairs per square centimeter, with more than 95% of his face covered in hair—a condition so rare that only about 50 documented cases have been recorded worldwide since the Middle Ages.
The GWR website described Patidar as “one in a BILLION,” praising his ability to rise above the social stigma attached to his appearance:
“He’s overcome all of the stares from strangers and nasty comments you’d sadly imagine he would have received. The other kids at school were even scared of him when he showed up for his first day.”
Patidar, however, has chosen to embrace his uniqueness rather than let it define him. Reflecting on his experience, he shared:
“They were scared of me, but when they started knowing me and talking to me, they understood I was not so different from them. It was just on the outside that I looked different, but I’m not different inside.”
His remarkable achievement was officially recognized after he appeared on the Italian TV show ‘Lo Show dei Record’, where experts meticulously measured his facial hair to confirm his world record.
With hypertrichosis being such an extraordinarily rare condition, Patidar’s story is not just about a world record—it’s a testament to the power of self-acceptance, perseverance, and the courage to stand tall in a world that often fears what it does not understand.
