Pep Guardiola breaks silence on Man City’s unprecedented losing streak, challenges
The Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, renowned for his tactical genius, is navigating uncharted waters after enduring a five-game losing streak—the longest of his career.
The situation took another unexpected turn when City squandered a 3-0 lead against Feyenoord in the Champions League, conceding three late goals to settle for a 3-3 draw.
As Guardiola prepares his team for what is arguably Europe’s toughest test—a trip to face Liverpool at Anfield—he spoke candidly in an interview with Sky Sports’ Pat Davidson about the challenges of this rough patch and the lessons it holds.
Reflecting on the losing streak, Guardiola revealed a philosophical outlook: “I felt it when we won four Premier League in a row, not just now. I felt even in those moments that: ‘this too shall pass’. I never thought that when we were winning and winning that it would be eternal. That the moment will come: this too shall pass.”
When asked about City’s current form, Guardiola admitted it’s been a testing time:
“Definitely. It’s not nice because you always have doubts afterwards. But at the end when you think a lot about what works, it comes back to the principles. You go back to the most simple thing possible. “I had the feeling the tactics is not the big issue. When you’re winning 3-0 on 75 minutes and then it’s 3-3, it’s not that.”
With City under scrutiny and facing a daunting task at Anfield, Guardiola’s ability to galvanize his squad could define the trajectory of their season.
