Biden thanks Tinubu for Binance executive’s release, vows stronger U.S.-Nigeria partnership

President Joe Biden expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the collaboration between the United States and Nigeria, particularly in law enforcement and the release of Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, who was detained in Nigeria on money laundering charges.
The appreciation was conveyed during a phone call between the two leaders on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
During the call, Biden also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with Nigeria, as disclosed by Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Tinubu reciprocated by thanking the U.S. for their partnership and collaboration in various areas, including security cooperation in Africa, specifically in West Africa.
The strengthened partnership underscores the growing cooperation between the United States and Nigeria, aligning with Biden’s efforts to deepen U.S. engagement with Africa.
“He equally assured President Biden that the partnership will continue, and he stated that the future of the world relied on Africa, which was why it was important for this partnership to continue.
“The two leaders also discussed the issue of permanent seats and the United Nations Security Council, and President Biden once again assured that the United States is committed to seeing Africa have two permanent seats.
“He also reiterated that he does not see any reason why one of those seats should not belong to Nigeria, given its position in Africa, its stature and its importance,” said Mr Tuggar.
