Hurricane Milton’s passage through Florida has left a trail of destruction and loss of life. In Polk County, one person has been killed due to a hurricane-related crash, according to Sheriff Grady Judd.

The incident occurred in the Fort Meade area or the south end of the county. This is not an isolated incident, as St. Lucie County reported four fatalities from tornadoes earlier in the day.

“We have one crash related to the hurricane with a fatality,” Sheriff Grady Judd tells Fox13. “We are working that at this time, that is out in the Fort Meade area or the south end of the county.”

Other storm-related deaths have been reported in St. Petersburg, with two confirmed fatalities. According to Chief of Police Anthony Holloway, one person died due to a medical incident, while another was found deceased in a park.

Rescue and recovery operations are still underway, and counties are expected to provide updates throughout the day. The full extent of the damage and loss of life is yet to be determined.

Milton is moving into the Atlantic, but many parts of the state are flooded, with some people being rescued by boat
