“We must end the epidemic of gun violence in our country,” Kamala Harris reacts as teen kills 4 in mass shooting
US Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has condemned the recent shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia as a “senseless tragedy”.
On Wednesday, a 14-year-old suspect opened fire on students and staff, resulting in the deaths of at least four people. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the incident also left nine others injured, including a teacher and eight students, who are currently receiving medical treatment.
Reacting, the VP in a statement on her official X handle, denounced the bloody incident, saying “we must end the epidemic of gun violence in our country once and for all”.
She wrote, “Today, Doug and I are mourning the deaths of those whose lives were cut short by gun violence at Apalachee High School in Georgia.
“Our hearts are with the students, teachers, and families impacted by this shooting, and we are grateful to the first responders and law enforcement on the scene.
“This is a senseless tragedy — and it does not have to be this way”.
