In a step towards bolstering aviation cooperation, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have formalized a strategic agreement, as announced by the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority.

The accord, cemented during a high-profile engagement between senior aviation delegates from the DRC and Ethiopian officials, aims to foster collaboration in the aviation sector.

Leading the DRC delegation, Mr. Musengezi Kitasa, the aeronautical advisor to the Minister of Transport and Communications, has been in Addis Ababa since May 7th, 2024, engaging in substantive discussions preceding the signing.

Of notable significance, the agreement is poised to catalyze the operations of Ethiopian Airlines, enhancing operational efficiency and extending its flight network.

An immediate outcome includes the commencement of additional flights to Kisangani, a city situated within the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Presently, Ethiopian Airlines operates a robust schedule, encompassing 21 weekly flights to Kinshasa, 14 to Lubumbashi, and 7 flights to Kisangani, Goma, and other key airports across the region.

The pivotal moment was marked by the official signing ceremony, attended by Mr. Getachew Mengste, Director General of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, and Mr. Musengezi Kitasa, representing the DRC delegation.

The latest agreement propels the total count to an impressive 112 countries, thereby expanding Ethiopian Airlines’ global footprint to serve 135 destinations worldwide.
