Ethiopian PM joins African leaders in Nairobi for IDA 21 Replenishment Summit

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, alongside his delegation to partake in the International Development Association (IDA) 21 Replenishment Summit.

The summit, convened to underscore the critical priority areas for development financing in Africa, aims to urge IDA donors and other stakeholders to ramp up funding for the IDA21 cycle.

Enhanced support is deemed imperative to tackle the developmental hurdles and opportunities confronting Africa, as well as those encountered by IDA countries across different regions.

The 21st Replenishment of the International Development Association (IDA21) is pivotal in addressing global challenges and seizing opportunities for transformative change.

These crises have impeded global development, imperilling lives and livelihoods, and burdened many impoverished nations with debt.

IDA21 is poised to catalyse investments in crucial areas such as women and youth empowerment, energy access, climate resilience, digitalisation, job creation, and more, with the overarching goal of eradicating poverty within the context of sustainable development on a habitable planet.
