The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has pledged its determination to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for setting fire to the office of the Anambra State Vigilante Group in Amichi, where an operative was tragically killed.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a press release issued in Awka. Quoting the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, Ikenga emphasized that every effort will be made to track down the culprits.

The incident occurred when hoodlums launched an assault on the vigilante office in Amichi, Nnewi South LGA, resulting in the building being set ablaze and killing one of the men of the state vigilante.

Ikenga said: “The Commissioner of Police commends vigilante groups across the State for their commitment to the protection of the citizenry and assured that the Police would do all within its powers to protect them.

“He has also directed Police Tactical Teams and Special Forces across the State to respond promptly to all distress calls from vigilante groups anytime they come under attack. His death will not be in vain.”
