Nwabali: Nigerian goalie attracts interest from top Saudi, English clubs as future at Chippa Utd hangs in balance
In a potential transfer whirlwind, Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has garnered attention from various clubs, including Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia and Queens Park Rangers in the UK.
The shot-stopper, currently plying his trade for South African outfit Chippa United, could be on the verge of a major career move as his future hangs in the balance, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano
Reports suggest that both Al Ettifaq and Queens Park Rangers have expressed interest in securing Nwabali’s services, indicating a possible transfer in the coming months. The Nigerian goalkeeper’s standout performances at the just concluded TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations have caught the eye of these clubs, prompting discussions about his potential move to a new footballing environment.
Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali recently expressed his eagerness to prolong his tenure at Chippa United, aiming for an additional one or two years with the South African club.
The goalkeeper recently made his return to Chippa United after the national team assignment where he won the silver medal with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
speaking in an interview with SABC, Nwabali said, “When you play under a chairman who understands you, everything falls into place – confidence grows… Playing under a chairman who prioritizes the comfort of his players motivates you to give your all, whether you’re in or out of the team.
“To be honest, I sincerely hope to continue playing for one or two more years under his leadership – that’s my heartfelt desire. If he shares the same sentiment, that would be wonderful, but it’s truly my wish because he’s a wonderful person.”
“He has shown me kindness, and I would like to reciprocate that. However, if my time with the club comes to an end at the conclusion of this season, I will accept it gracefully. If there are further opportunities for me to continue, then I’ll embrace them wholeheartedly,” he concluded.
The former Enyimba goalkeeper received cash gifts, a national honour and was showered with a chieftaincy title in his hometown after the competition that saw Nigeria winning the silver medal.
