Awoniyi not fully ready’, says Nottingham Forest Manager, Nuno Espirito Santo
Despite scoring in a 2-0 win against West Ham United on Saturday, Nottingham Forest Manager, Nuno Espirito Santo has declared that Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi is yet to attain full fitness needed to keep him flying for the club.
The Super Eagles player recently returned to action after the injury that ruled him out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
He lifted Nottingham Forest as he scored the opening goal in 2-0 home win against West Ham United at the City Ground on Saturday.
Speaking on the readiness of the 26-year-old, Santo told BBC sport, “Strikers are about scoring but for us, it’s more than that. They have to work, they have to read the game and when the moment comes put it inside the net. We know he’s struggling in terms of fitness, it’s up to us to manage him.”
The win propels Nottingham Forest five points clear of the Premier League relegation zone and added to the pressure on West Ham United.
