Traders blame Tinubu, unite in compassion as starving widow collapses at local market

In a heartrending incident at a local market in southwest Nigeria, traders have come together to support a widow who collapsed due to hunger, exposing the harsh realities faced by some members of the community.

The distressing episode unfolded when a viral video surfaced, capturing the desperate plight of the widow and her child, who revealed that they had gone without food for a staggering four days. The widow, struggling to make ends meet, embarked on selling sachet water in an attempt to gather some funds for sustenance.

The emotional video testimonial depicted the widow with her child strapped to her back, emphasizing the dire circumstances that forced her to take to the streets in hopes of earning enough to secure a meal.

Tragically, exhaustion and hunger overcame her, leading to her collapse in the midst of her efforts.

News of the incident quickly spread throughout the community, prompting an outpouring of compassion from fellow traders. Witnessing the vulnerability of a member in their midst, a collective effort emerged as traders rallied support to provide immediate assistance to the distressed widow.

Local authorities have been alerted to the situation, and efforts are underway to address the broader issues of poverty and hunger in the community.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals, shedding light on the need for systemic support and community-driven initiatives to uplift those in desperate circumstances.

Nigerians react

Fr. Convoco’s College said, “It is heartbreaking what many of our mothers go through to put food on the table for the children.. May God strengthen them.”

In his satirical comment, “Festus Richards wrote, God bless president bola tinubu for his good work, the that built lagos, nigeria best president since independence. His good work is speaking for him, continue baba we the people of south south and southeast are strongly behind you on your mandate we stand.”

One Mary Izato reacted, “I can relate , I used to follow my mum and hawk ice water in those because life was hard and my mum was a widow. May God see her through. Thank God today God helped us.”

Ekeh Emeka Richard wrote, “Gosh!!! This is too much. Suffer is too much in this country.”
