Super Eagles wrap up AFCON training, depart Dubai for Lagos
The Super Eagles have wrapped up their training tour in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and are set to arrive in Nigeria’s commercial hub, Lagos.
The AFCON-bound team and their officials spent nearly one week in the Gulf nation where they tested their strength for the prestigious event in Cote d’Ivoire.
Upon their arrival, the Super Eagles players including their officials are expected to be hosted to a send-forth dinner by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday evening.
Nigeria played two opponents while in the UAE. Jose Peseiro’s side ran riot against a local club, Al Gharib, winning 12-0. They failed to replicate their brilliant form in the second tie as they lost 2-0 to the Syli Stars of Guinea.
The team will fly to Abidjan on Wednesday for the tournament proper.
The 2023 AFCON, which will be decided in Côte d’Ivoire, will run from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are drawn in Group A with hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.
