High flying Anthony Joshua beats Otto Wallin in five-round victory
Anthony Joshua put up a brilliant performance to beat Otto Wallin as he continues to dust off his past disappointing outings.
UFC star Conor McGregor and footballer Cristiano Ronaldo were in attendance as Joshua made his ring walk.
The British-Nigerian boxed excellently in Saudi Arabia, dominating Wallin before the opponent’s corner pulled him out of the fight at the end of the fifth round.
Wallin, who gave Tyson Fury a competitive fight back in 2019, failed to withstand Joshua and his high flying punches before he bowed out of the fight.
Earlier in the night, American Deontay Wilder was out-powered inRiyadh, and was hurt badly in the eighth as New Zealander Joseph Parker emerged the winner after he was awarded a unanimous decision with the judges’ scoring it 118-111, 118-110 and 120-108.
“I heard that Deontay lost. So what? He’ll be back. Deontay, everything that he said about me, I could rip him apart right now, but I’m going to take the higher ground,” Joshua said.
“You can come back. If he wanted to, he can come back. I’m sure everyone still wants to see that fight.”
Regarding his performance, he said, “I can’t grade my performance. My performance team will judge me and the fans at home will have a lot to say, so I’ll leave it up to them,” Joshua said afterwards.
“Not a throwback fight, just another fight. It was just another day in the office.
“All I want to be is victorious for as long as I can.”
