Super Eagles coach predicts tough encounter with Saudi Arabia ahead Friday’s friendly
The Super Eagles of Nigeria’s coach, Jose Peseiro says the match between Nigeria and Saudi is going to be a big test for the West African sides as they lock horns with the former Asian champions.
The two teams face each other on Friday in a friendly game in Portugal.
The Saudi football team came into the limelight as they defeated Argentina 2-1 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Peseiro, who led the Saudi team between 2000 and 2011, predicted a tough encounter between the two sides while promising that the Super Eagles would start on the front foot against his opponents.
He stressed that Nigeria is going all out against the Asian giants and later Mozambique in preparation for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“Saudi was the last team to beat Argentina so I expect a hard match and also a good match for our team and we will start on the front foot against them.
“We want to beat Saudi Arabia and Mozambique so as to prepare well for the first two games of the World Cup qualifiers because Nigeria must play the next World Cup,” Peseiro said in his press conference on Thursday.
The match in Portugal will be the Super Eagles’ second meeting with the Arab nation, following a goalless stalemate in a friendly in 2010.
