Super Eagles coach praises players after 6-0 thrashing of Sao Tome and Principe
The victorious Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has commended his players following their fantastic performance against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday.
The former AFCON champions ended their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign on a brilliant note as they conquered Sao Tome and Principe 6-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo
Commenting on the win, the coach of the Nigerian side said his players displayed commitment to win the game even when it is clear that they have no worries regarding their qualification for the forthcoming competition in Cote D’Ivoire.
He said, “My players showed commitment, I pushed them to do well. Normally when you play against a team that is not strong, everybody relax,” the Portuguese stated during his interaction with the media after the game.
“In this game, they didn’t relax, they put up a spectacle from the first minute to the last they were fighting. They played a good game, we won 6-0 which was good.”
The Super Eagles will now focus on the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers after missed out on the last edition in Qatar last year.
