BUA boss defeats other business moguls, wins 2023 Leadership Excellence Awards
Chairman of BUA Group, Mr. Abdulsamad Rabiu has defeated his business counterparts Chief Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace; Alhaji Auwalu Rano, CEO of A.A. Rano Nig. Limited and Mr. Aloysius Ikegwuonu, Founder of Ebubechukwuzo Foundation, in a seven-day leadership excellence awards poll.
The online voting by Nigerians, which was monitored by the News Agency of Nigeria (NANS), recorded Mr. Rabiu with the highest number of votes (568,247) as against others.
Chief Onyema has 478,117 votes, while Messers Rano and Ikegwuonu have 286,374 and 68,352 votes, respectively.
The leadership award, tagged Leadership Excellence Awards (LEEX Awards), was organized by IgbereTV in honour of performing industry leaders from both the public and private sectors in Nigeria.
LEEX Awards, according to NAN, also promotes outstanding leaders and personalities, whose impacts have been felt in Nigeria’s political, social and economic spheres.
Rabiu, a 63-year-old Kano-born businessman, is widely known for his philanthropy across the African continent through his foundation, the Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative Africa (ASR Africa).
He is winning this award for the third time. He was nominated as a winner in 2020 and 2021.
The LEEX Awards was endorsed in 2020 by the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC), and in 2021 by the African Union Film Institute (AFI).
The award will be presented to Rabiu alongside other winners of the various award categories on 2023, to be held in Abuja.
Through his noble foundation, Abdulsamad Rabiu recently donated a grant of 5.5 billion naira to the Nigerian education sector. The fund is meant for infrastructural development at 22 universities and other tertiary institutions.
