Nigerian gov debunks rumour of burnt embassy in Niger
The Nigeria’s representative at the Republic of Niger has debunked a fake news circulating the social media space of its embassy being set ablaze by protesters.
Liti Auwalu, an official from the embassy unveiled this in a signed statement on Sunday, August 13, 2023.
According to him, the embassy’s Chancery Building is in a safe condition, noting that the efforts to attack it by protesters were made abortive by security personnels.
Auwalu said, “At the moment, the Embassy is well guarded by the Nigerien Military and other Security Authorities.”
“We reiterate that the videos are fake and as such the general public is enjoined to disregard such videos,” he added.
