Women’s World Cup: Nigeria’s President commends Super Falcons after defeat to England 

President Bola Tinubu has applauded the Super Falcons of Nigeria following their defeat to England through penalty shoot-out in the Round of 16 on Monday.

President Tinubu shared a picture of the team on his X handle, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “ I must commend the effort by our Super Falcons #NGSuper_Falcons at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Your brilliant performance did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome. You made Nigeria proud on the global stage!” He said.

England defeated Nigeria 4-2 on penalties on Monday to advance to the Women’s World Cup quarterfinals after their last-16 match ended 0-0 after extra time.

The quarter-final stages will take place on Friday and Saturday while the first semi-final takes place on August 15 in Auckland, with the other semi-final taking the center stage on August 16 at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, which will then host the final on August 20.

The bronze medal tie will be played on August 19, 24 hours before the final, in Brisbane.
