Fuel subsidy: Gov. Adeleke reveals cushion plans, receives stakeholders commendations
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has revealed plans to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on Osun residents for improved livelihoods.
The Governor unveiled this at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Osogbo during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday, June 30, 2023.
Speaking on the cushion plans, Mr Adeleke mentioned that his government will soon provide palliatives to the people of Osun in the form of a free public transport system and reduced working hours to make life easier and more enjoyable for them.
He said, “We (the Osun Government) will soon introduce public transport buses. We are working on adjusting work hours and days. We want to make life easy and enjoyable for our people.”
He continued by highlighting his achievements and unwavering commitment to move the state of Osun to the next level of economic and infrastructural development within half a year of his assumption of office.
Mr Adeleke added by stressing his strategic approach of implementing both new and abandoned projects across different sectors and proving skeptics, who had never believed in him, wrong. All of which were unachievable by the past APC-led administration.
“We are implementing programmes and projects in education, health and infrastructures: what the APC could not achieve in four years, we have achieved in under seven months,” the governor said.

“We have positioned the public service, built roads, bridges and channeled it.” We have commenced payment of salary and pension debt,” he added.
Commending the governor, former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and other PDP stakeholders present at the congress applauded Mr Adeleke for his robust performance and delivery of good governance in the state in the past seven months.
“Your (PDP) government has launched the Osun digital economy agenda. Abandoned projects are being completed. Your government is beating old governance records within such a short period,” said Oyinlola.
He added, “Governor Adeleke has surprised even his worst critics. His performance impresses all and it has strengthened the party and the state. We commend the Governor and his team.”
Governor Adeleke concludes by thanking the party’s stakeholders for their all-time barking and reassuring them of working with the stated agenda.
“I appreciate your support then and now. This is your government. We shall all realize the fruits of our labour,” he said.
