INEC faults declaration of Binani, gives reasons for suspension of Adamawa Guber collation
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has faulted the declaration of Aisha Dahiru Binani, the All Progressive Congress candidate, as the winner of the Adamawa governorship poll.
INEC National Commissioner on Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, condemned the declaration of the APC candidate.
In the earlier hours of Sunday, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa, wrongly declared Binani winner of the election, according to Okoye.
Okoye maintained that the pronouncement made by the REC is an exertion of authority without right.
He stated that no constitution conferred him such power.

“Moreover, the collation of election results is still ongoing,” Okoye said.
“The action of the REC is a usurpation of the power of the Returning Officer. It is null, void and of no effect.
“Consequently the collation of the supplementary election is hereby suspended,” Okoye explained in a statement.
The Commission has invited the REC, Returning Officer and all others involved to its National headquarter in Abuja.
