The Ikirun Development Vanguard (IDV) has commended the Osun State Governor, Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, for reversing the appointment of Akadiri as Akinrun of Ikirun, describing the action as a blessing to Ikirun.

IDV in a statement released by the General Secretary of the group, Mr Wasiu Quadri, and made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Tuesday December 6, 2022, described the reversal as “answered prayer for Ikirun unity and progress”.

The group maintained that the reversal of the earlier lopsided appointment of Prince Yinusa Olalekan Akadiri, by the immediate past administration, as Akinrun of Ikirun, is a divine acceptance of prayers of all the patriotic indigenes of Ikirun.

IDV stressed that the action of the past administration could draw Ikirun backward for life, and that could cause a monumental division and underdevelopment.

Mr. Quadri said the association arrived at this conclusion based on the activities of Prince Yinusa Olalekan Akadiri and his so-called supporters since his controversial announcement by the immediate past government of former Governor of Osun, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, as Akinrun of Ikirun, most especially after the announcement of the reversal by the new Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

“Since the reversal of the appointment of Prince Yinusa Akadiri as Akinrun, normalcy has returned to Ikirun, both socially and economically.

“The thuggery scenes that enveloped the town have disappeared and the weekly Jumaat prayer as well as full buying and selling at Oja Oba market that had hitherto been on hold since 26th October, 2022, are now back since last week and back for good in a peaceful atmosphere.

“This to us is a testament to the fact that, Ikirun is not in any way in support of injustice and an attempt to shortchange Gboleru Ruling House,” IDV said in the statement.

It added, “However, instead of supporters of Prince Yinusa Akadiri to move on with the current reality of a lively Ikirun, after the ugly past of the past four weeks, they have sadly resorted to online attacks, blackmail, insults and denigration of our elders and government, through faceless Facebook names and handles, to cause another division and unrest within the town.

“We see this divisive act as the true colour of Prince Yinusa Akadiri and his people, which is alien to Ikirun character, culture and tradition.”

“Having compiled and studied all the statements credited to Prince Yinusa Olalekan Akadiri himself and all his supporters both in print and electronic media, online and offline platforms, among others, it is crystal clear that Ikirun missed a bullet of division, stagnation, hatred, arrogance, ignorance and lack of respect for elders, to mention but just a few, through the reversal of Prince Yinusa Akadiri’s appointment by Osun State Government.

“Looking back in hindsight, we are very happy and pray never to have such a character as the custodian of our culture and tradition”. the group concluded.

IDV is a sociocultural group of Ikirun youth from home and abroad.
