Obaship tussle: Stop dancing naked at the market square, IDV urges Akinrun kingmakers, other crisis originators
Ikirun Development Vanguard (IDV) has urged the Ikirun kingmakers and crisis originators to stop dancing naked at the market square.
IDV commended the National Ikirun Progressive Union (NIPU) over its intervention in the Ikirun obaship tussle.
IDV disclosed this while commending the communique issued and presented to the public by the number one and foremost umbrella body of all Ikirun indigenes home and abroad on Tuesday November 29, 2022, about the lingering kingship crises in the ancient city.
IDV made the commendation in a statement signed by General Secretary of the group, Mr. Wasiu Quadri and made available to newsmen.
IDV held an emergency meeting to review the steps taken so far by new Osun State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke on the perennial crises associated with the installation of a new monarch for Ikirun.
Ikirun Development Vanguard agreed both in principle and ideology with all the points raised by NIPU in its communique.
The group appreciated, most especially, the unpatriotic moves, by some stakeholders and unholy alliances among all the kingmakers in connection with their sponsors which gave birth to the injustice, societal chaos, economic panic, loss of lives and destruction of properties which Ikirun witnessed within the last one month.
The group eulogized His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke, on the steps taken thus far to restore peace and orderliness back to Ikirunland.
It acknowledged that “The steps are yielding fruitful result already.”
It also advised all the names mentioned in the NIPU communique as perpetrators of the crises associated with Obaship in Ikirun to examine themselves and return to the path of honour and public interest, instead of baseless defense they are dishing out on social media to “justify their dubious acts on daily basis”.
“We see it as irrational nakedness at the market square the replies of 6 of the accused kingmakers, Chief Morufu Bamidele Onifade and Chief Moshood Adekunle De-Moshadek to the factual position of NIPU about the ignoble roles they played since the issue of appointment of a new king for Ikirun started more than a year ago.
“As far as we are concerned, truth is sacred. No amount of name-calling can erase both the verbal and visual evidences of the ignominious roles these characters played as narrated by the kingmakers themselves,” IDV stated.
“We therefore ask the manipulators to tell the world if truly it’s the turn of Gboleru Ruling House to produce the next Akinrun of Ikirun or not and when it’s become a sin for princes to be contesting for the stool of the forbearers,” the statement added.
“We urge Chiefs Onifade, Moshadek and their likes to tread softly, talk reasonably and act patriotically henceforth as the town will not condone any act of sabotage from them any longer as a new process to install a monarch that will be well loved and accepted by all the good people of Ikirun is underway,” the statement concluded.
