FG Launches Customs Verification Management System to Boost Efficiency and Transparency

The Federal Government has launched the Customs Verification Management System (CVMS) — a major digital innovation aimed at transforming the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) into a fully automated and intelligent customs administration.
The CVMS serves as a comprehensive digital platform designed to enhance the verification of customs documents, ensure the authenticity of clearance procedures, and promote greater integrity and transparency in all customs operations. By centralizing verification within a secure digital system, the initiative is expected to drastically reduce manual processing, minimize errors, and accelerate trade facilitation across Nigeria’s borders.
Speaking during the unveiling, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, described the CVMS as a groundbreaking step toward building a more credible, efficient, and technology-driven customs system.
Adeniyi noted that the innovation aligns with the Federal Government’s broader goal of leveraging digital solutions to strengthen national security, improve compliance, and boost revenue generation through transparent and verifiable trade processes.
He emphasized that with the CVMS in place, importers, exporters, and other stakeholders can now enjoy a more seamless and trustworthy customs experience — marking the beginning of a new era of efficiency in Nigeria’s trade ecosystem.
