Three of the 12 inmates who escaped during the Koton Karfe Correctional Centre jailbreak in Kogi State have been rearrested, according to Acting Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sly Nwakuche.

During a press briefing at the prison facility on Monday, Nwakuche confirmed the recapture while expressing deep regret over the killing of a correctional officer by the fleeing inmates.

He assured that authorities remain committed to apprehending the remaining escapees, stating, “The remaining escapees will be apprehended.”

Nwakuche further appealed to the general public to assist security agencies by providing useful information that could lead to the re-arrest of the fugitives.

The jailbreak has heightened concerns over prison security in Nigeria, prompting intensified efforts by law enforcement to prevent further breaches and ensure swift justice.
