Is Nigeria Truly on the Right Track Under Tinubu?

The Nigerian government insists that the country is making significant progress under President Bola Tinubu. In a recent statement, the State House responded to concerns raised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), which highlighted issues such as youth unemployment, insecurity, poverty, corruption, and electoral fraud.
The government acknowledged these challenges but argued that Nigeria has improved in key areas, particularly security and the economy. It claimed that over 8,000 criminals have been eliminated, 10,000 kidnapped victims rescued, and farmers in various regions have returned to their fields, boosting food production and reducing prices.
On the economic front, the administration pointed to a stronger currency, improved foreign reserves, and increased local refining capacity through the Dangote Refinery and NNPCL refineries in Port Harcourt and Warri. It also highlighted youth-focused programs like 3MTT, NATEP, LEEP, and NiYA, which aim to create over 10 million jobs.
The government further noted that international bodies, including Chatham House, have praised its economic policies, and the record N54.9 trillion 2025 budget is designed to drive economic recovery and growth.
Despite these claims, many Nigerians still face economic hardship, high inflation, and insecurity. While progress has been made, the question remains: Is Nigeria truly on the right path, or is more urgent action needed to address the realities faced by its citizens?
