“He brought shame to the family”: Ilorin community reacts with anger, grief over ritual killing of young lady by self-styled alfa
The Ilorin community has been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of a young girl, Hafsoh Yetunde, allegedly kidnapped and hacked to death for ritual purposes by AbdulRahman Idisin.
The tragic incident has left residents in deep sorrow and outrage.
Speaking on the development, Comrade Hassan Taiye Erubu, President of the Balogun Fulani Constituency Youth Development Association, expressed profound grief over the incident.
As a close family associate, he attested to the integrity of the suspect’s father, Alfa Baba-Idisin, a retired headmaster known for his gentle and upright nature.
He also described the late Sheikh Isihaq Idisin, the suspect’s uncle, as a respected Islamic scholar with a clean reputation.
Erubu lamented the disgrace AbdulRahman had brought upon his family and the entire community, emphasizing that justice must be served. He further called on the Ilorin Emirate to be more vigilant, warning that the unchecked activities of self-proclaimed young Islamic scholars pose a growing threat.
“The prodigal son, Abdul Rahman, brought shame to the family and the community, he said.
He added that: “In Ìlọrin Emirate, we should be more vigilant and secure our glory. The activities of these young and upcoming (acclaimed) Islamic Scholars are unbearable, and they should be seriously dealt with in a voice.
“As a community practitioner, this is a serious challenge to us, and we shouldn’t sleep while the fire is on the roof.”
He prayed for the deceased’s soul to find eternal rest in Al-Janat Firdaus and asked Allah to grant her family the strength to bear this devastating loss.
