Bandits attack general hospital in Katsina, injure doctor, abduct three

A medical doctor on duty at Kankara General Hospital in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria, was shot Tuesday night when bandits stormed the facility.
The doctor, Murtala Saleh, suffered a gunshot wound to his right thigh, while another victim, Kamala Suleiman, was injured in the knee.
Both victims are receiving medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition, according to police spokesman Abubakar Aliyu.
The attack escalated into a gunfight between local police officers and the armed assailants, who carried AK-47 rifles. Despite police resistance, the bandits abducted three individuals during the raid.
Efforts are ongoing to rescue the kidnapped victims unharmed and apprehend the perpetrators. “We are working to ensure the safe return of the victims and to bring those responsible for this heinous act to justice,” said Aliyu.
Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa, strongly condemned the attack on healthcare workers and facilities, describing it as “senseless.”
He has directed the deployment of additional operational resources to enhance security in the area and intensify the search for the attackers.
