Nigerian Senate honors fallen heroes on Armed Forces Remembrance Day
As the world observed Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the Nigerian Senate offered a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes.
Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, issued a statement commemorating the sacrifices of military personnel who have died defending the country.
“On behalf of the Senate Committee on Nigerian Army, I wish to pay tribute to our fallen heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our great nation,” Yar’adua stated.
He further praised active service members, acknowledging their commitment to maintaining peace and securing the nation from internal and external threats. “January 15th is a day set aside to remember and celebrate the bravery, patriotism, and selflessness of our military personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty,” he noted.
Expressing deep respect, Yar’adua emphasized the invaluable contributions of the Armed Forces: “Their bravery and unwavering commitment to our nation’s unity and security have not gone unnoticed.”
He assured that the sacrifices of fallen soldiers over the past year would remain etched in the nation’s memory.
The statement also recognized the families of the deceased, urging the nation to provide them with support and solace. “May their sacrifices not be in vain,” Yar’adua concluded, calling for a united effort to ensure a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
