Prominent activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has called on President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Adeyanju expressed disappointment in Tinubu’s continuation of the approach adopted by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a post on X, Adeyanju criticized Tinubu’s stance, stating:
“Tinubu should have released Nnamdi Kanu since. It is easier to criticize than to govern. This is why critics are usually bad leaders and examples abound all over the world and Africa. If in doubt, look at APC.”

Kanu has been in detention since June 2021, following his arrest in Kenya by security operatives and subsequent rendition to Nigeria.

His prolonged incarceration has sparked significant debate and calls for his release from various quarters, including human rights activists and political analysts.
