The Chief Imam of Lagos Central Mosque, Ridhwan Jamiu, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his leadership, describing his actions as commendable despite the challenges facing the nation.

“We are proud of you,” the cleric remarked in a statement issued by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga on Friday.

Reflecting on the support Tinubu received during the election campaigns, Mr. Jamiu stated, “I remember that we encouraged people to vote for you during the campaigns. We thank God that you have not disappointed us.”

In his Friday sermon, the imam lauded the president’s commitment to justice and fairness, noting, “We know you are capable. We know you have the sagacity. We know you are competent. We have seen righteousness in you and fairness and justice in you. Please, keep it up and sustain it.”

While commending the president’s leadership, Mr. Jamiu emphasized the need for accountability and responsibility to the Nigerian people. “Responsibility is to the people, and accountability is to Allah when you return to him,” he cautioned.

President Tinubu’s economic policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira, have led to significant economic hardship, including rising food prices.

Nonetheless, in his maiden media address, the president defended these decisions, asserting they were necessary to prevent national collapse.
