House of Representatives confirms Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Army Staff
The Nigerian House of Representatives has officially confirmed Olufemi Oluyede as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), following a presentation by Babajimi Benson, Chairman of the Committee on Defense.
The confirmation came shortly after Oluyede was screened by the Joint Committee on Army and Defense on Wednesday.
Oluyede was nominated by President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him as Acting COAS after the health challenges of his predecessor, Taoreed Lagbaja. Tragically, Lagbaja passed away shortly after Oluyede’s appointment.
The approval solidifies Oluyede’s position as a key leader in Nigeria’s defense structure, with expectations that he will lead efforts to address pressing security challenges facing the nation.
