Video: Port Harcourt refinery begins oil production
Nigeria’s state-owned Port Harcourt Refinery has officially resumed crude oil processing, marking a significant step forward for the country’s refining sector.
The announcement was made by Olufemi Soneye, spokesperson for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), on Tuesday.
The refinery has started operations at 60% of its full capacity, processing 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day. With a total refining capacity of 250,000 barrels per day, the Port Harcourt refinery is a key asset in Nigeria’s oil production and refining industry.
This milestone follows several delays in the refinery’s previous start-up schedules, adding significance to its current operation.
The resumption of processing at the Port Harcourt Refinery is seen as a crucial development in the nation’s ongoing efforts to boost domestic refining capacity and reduce reliance on imported refined products.
