Storm Bert continues its relentless assault on the UK, claiming a fourth life as 70mph winds and severe flooding wreak havoc across Wales and beyond.

The latest victim, 75-year-old Brian Perry, was found after disappearing while walking by the River Conwy with his wife and dog, North Wales Police confirmed.

On Saturday, three motorists lost their lives in separate incidents in Winchester, West Yorkshire, and Northamptonshire as the storm’s fury showed no signs of abating.

Towns like Pontypridd, Ebbw Vale, and Aberdare have reported rising waters, with dramatic social media posts depicting submerged cars and residents desperately trying to save their homes near the River Taff.

South Wales authorities have declared a major incident, with dozens of homes, businesses, and schools inundated. The chaos extends to air and rail travel, with flights grounded and fallen trees disrupting train services. Commuters face significant delays, adding to the storm’s widespread disruption.

Power outages have left around 350,000 households in the dark, though efforts to restore electricity have reconnected the majority.

As the UK braces for continued turmoil, Storm Bert’s impact is a grim reminder of the power of nature, leaving communities battling to recover in its wake.
