Dangote refinery drops petrol price to N970 as festive relief for Nigerians

In a Christmas goodwill gesture, Dangote Refinery has reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, from N990 to N970 per litre, bringing a touch of relief to Nigerians amid economic challenges.
The announcement, made on Sunday, reflects the company’s gratitude to the public and support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Anthony Chiejina, Dangote Refinery’s chief branding and communications officer, stated, “As the year comes to an end, this is our way of appreciating the good people of Nigeria for their unwavering support in making the refinery a dream come true.”
The refinery also expressed its gratitude to the government for enabling the success of its 650,000-barrel-per-day facility, a critical asset in bolstering Nigeria’s energy independence.
Beyond the price cut, Dangote Refinery reassured Nigerians of its commitment to addressing domestic fuel needs, promising to ramp up production to eliminate supply shortages.
“We are determined to keep ramping up production to meet and surpass our domestic fuel consumption, thus dispelling any fear of a shortfall in supply,” the company assured.
The move offers a measure of respite as Nigerians face soaring fuel prices, providing a small but significant relief during the festive season. It also reinforces the refinery’s position as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s energy sector, contributing to national economic stability.
With the holiday season underway, the price cut is seen as a timely and symbolic gesture, resonating with millions across the country.
