How we grow our IGR from 90m to N1.9b monthly, governor of Zamfara explains
Zamfara State’s internally generated revenue has seen a remarkable boost under Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration, skyrocketing from below N90 million to N1.3 billion monthly.
This impressive growth was revealed by Governor Lawal during his visit to Galaxy Backbone’s Managing Director, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanyu, in Abuja.
The key driver behind this success story is technology, which has enabled the state to maximize its revenue generation potential.
Prior to this development, the state had been working to expand its tax base and implement revenue laws, including capital gains tax and property tax.
The elated governor said, “It is interesting to know when we took over, our Internally Generated Revenue was just under N90 million as a state which shows that something fundamental was wrong.
“We made conscious efforts to change the trend. Technology was what we used in changing the trend by blocking leakages in the system. I am happy to say that as of today our IGR has grown to N1.3 billion”, he said.
