G7 leaders caution against “uncontrollable escalation” in Middle East

The G7 leaders have expressed strong concerns over the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Middle East, issuing a joint statement condemning Iran’s direct military attack on Israel.

They emphasized the threat this poses to regional stability and reaffirmed their commitment to Israel’s security.

The statement also denounced Iran’s destabilizing actions in the region, including support for terrorist proxies and armed groups.

The G7 leaders urged regional players to act responsibly and with restraint, warning that escalating attacks and retaliation risk unleashing uncontrollable violence.

“We, the leaders of the G7, express deep concern over the deteriorating situation in the Middle East and condemn in the strongest terms Iran’s direct military attack against Israel, which constitutes a serious threat to regional stability.”

G7 leaders added: ” A dangerous cycle of attacks and retaliation risks fuelling uncontrollable escalation in the Middle East, which is in no-one’s interest. Therefore, we call on all regional players to act responsibly and with restraint.”
