ICPC recovers over n13b in diverted public funds, embarks on digital transformation
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced a remarkable achievement in its fight against corruption, recovering over N13 billion in diverted public funds in September 2024 alone.
This milestone was revealed by ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, during the launch of the commission’s 2024-2028 strategic action plan in Abuja.
Aliyu highlighted the commission’s relentless efforts to fulfill its mandate, highlighting the significance of this recovery as just one of the many ways they’ve worked tirelessly to combat corruption. However, he did not disclose the specific sources of the recovered funds.
In addition to this achievement, the ICPC is undergoing digital transformation to enhance its operations and stay ahead of corrupt activities. This includes developing specialized curricula to boost personnel enforcement capacity and intensifying efforts to identify institutional vulnerabilities through system studies and corruption risk assessments.
As Aliyu noted, “Over the past year, the ICPC has made significant progress in discharging its mandate… We are also embarking on ICT reforms that will digitalize our operations and enable more efficient investigations, case management, and internal processes.”
The transformation, he stressed, is to position the commission as a leader in leveraging technology to combat corruption, ensuring they remain one step ahead in the digital age.
