Viral video: Nigerians demand probe, arrest of woman calling for poisoning of Yoruba, Edo people
A Nigerian woman residing in Canada has sparked outrage on social media after making inciting calls for the poisoning of her fellow compatriots in a viral TikTok video.
The woman, identified as Anyi_Anambra, was heard in the live clip urging the poisoning of the food and water of the Yoruba and Benin people.
It doesn’t end there, she vowed to add rat-killing poisons in water and food to facilitate the gradual killing of her perceived foes as she justified her dislike for the tribes.
The footage has since gone viral, garnering thousands of views and widespread sharing online.
Nigerians on social media have condemned the inciting demands, calling for her immediate arrest and probe.
Many have expressed shock and disgust at her inciting calls, labelling them as hate speech and a threat to national security.
The video has raised concerns about the spread of hate speech and incitement on social media platforms. Many are calling for greater accountability and regulation to prevent such incidents in the future.
The Nigerian authorities have yet to comment on the matter, but it remains to be seen what action will be taken against the woman.
Commenting on the video, Olusolaa said, “This one would be picked up easily. Imagine hustling to go to Canada, just to be picked up and tried and go to jail and maybe deported all because of ethnic bigotry. What a shame!”
Also, @kingz_lala stressed that “Why can’t people like these be fished out and use as deterrents whether my kin or kith, my papa or mama, I don’t care. How could a living being be so cruel with murderous intentions? This is really getting messier. Whether Igbo, Yoruba or Edo, an example must be make…”
@OkolieOnye64843 Knoecked that authorities for remaining silent in the face of brewing ethnic hatred on the Nigerian social media spaces. He commented that “The Nigerian security networks are silent on the ethnic crisis going on social media. These kind of podcasts should be stopped. The government also should stop using ethnicity to promote acceptability during elections”
